Sulty was a serving woman at the Phoenix Inn in Darujhistan.[1] She had blond hair, a plump face,[2] and arms made astonishingly strong from more than a dozen years of carrying trays and pitchers.[3]
In Gardens of the Moon[]
When Crokus sought the sanctuary of the Phoenix Inn to escape pursuit from unknown attackers, Sulty pushed a mug into his hand as soon as he had entered.[4]
In Toll the Hounds[]
Sulty was present when Crokus, now Cutter, returned to the Phoenix Inn after years away from Darujhistan. Recognising him, she embraced him so tightly that all the air was forced from his lungs.[5]
On the night Hanut Orr's body was discovered in the alley behind the Inn, Kruppe sent Sulty to fetch a guard. At first she did not want to go because on the night the Hounds of Shadow came to Darujhistan, the city sounded like ten thousand wolves had been set loose. Kruppe assured her she would be safe, promising he would warmly comfort her upon her return. Sulty went outside muttering that Kruppe's incentive made her want to "throw myself into the jaws of the first wolf I see." She soon returned with a Guard with a failing heart who had coincidentally made it his personal crusade to find the bizarre serial killer.[6]
