Meese was an inhabitant of Darujhistan and a regular at the Phoenix Inn.[1] She was described as a big, beefy, rough looking woman with broad forearms.[2][3][4] She and her friend Irilta worked in tandem performing jobs for the Eel.[5][6]
In Gardens of the Moon
Meese and Irilta looked after Crokus Younghand. They intercepted the assassin Sorry when she followed Crokus into the Inn, careful to keep Crokus protected from her.[7]
Meese later stood outside the Inn to warn Rallick Nom that a stranger was inside looking for him.[8]
When Crokus returned to Darujhistan with Apsalar soon after she had lost her memories, Meese told him the guards were after him for murder but that she and Irilta would hide him.[9] Crokus later found out that this had been a ruse to keep him safe.[10]
Meese and Irilta mortally wounded Adjunct Lorn during the Fête of Gedderone.[11]
In Memories of Ice
It seemed that Meese was the hooded carriage driver that brought Kruppe to the meeting near Pale between Caladan Brood, Dujek Onearm, and the representatives of Darujhistan's Noble Council because Murillio angrily noted that Krupp and Meese's train of six jewel-decked horses closely resembled the Darujhistan delegation's missing team.[12]
In Toll the Hounds
Meese was named as the proprietor of the Phoenix Inn.[13]
In Orb Sceptre Throne
Meese came to the Phoenix Inn most evenings.[14]
