Hurtle was one of the Great Ravens that roosted in Moon's Spawn where he served Great Mother Crone, the raven matriarch, and Anomander Rake. He was a young bird who was fond of sarcastic humor.[1]
In Gardens of the Moon[]
Hurtle was among the ravens patrolling the Rhivi Plain on the orders of Anomander Rake. There he witnessed the puppet Hairlock abruptly appear from a Warren and murder fellow raven Kin Clip with sorcery. Afterwards the ravens followed the puppet southwards as it continued to disappear and reappear within its warren, occasionally sending bursts of flame against its pursuers. After Hurtle reported the situation to Crone, she ordered him and the other younglings back to Moon's Spawn to notify Rake.[2]
