Hestand was one of the Watered, an officer under Diligence.
In The Crippled God[]
Hestand was ordered by Diligence to ready a mounted battalion and full supply train with enough provisions for at least three legions. The officer was to intercept their allies, the land army of the Perish Grey Helms and treat them with the utmost respect. Hestand was also ordered to immediately send back any news the Perish might have of their common enemy.[1]
Hestand brought Diligence the news that their enemy would soon be in view and informed him that there was disquiet amongst their High Watered due to the sudden absence of Brother Serenity. The officer was told not to fret by Diligence but nevertheless persisted in raising the possibility of the enemy in front of them having unknown resources and was praised for that courage. Diligence told the officer to await his return as he went to investigate if the Perish might know more about the seeming overconfidence of the enemy.[2]
