Havva Gulen

Havva Gulen became Imperial High Mage after Tayschrenn's self-imposed retirement. She was described as tall and broad, with matted, unwashed hair and wearing dark, ink-stained robes. Her Warren was High Mockra.

In Return of the Crimson Guard

Spoiler warning: The following section contains significant plot details about Havva Gulen.

During the Malazan civil war, Havva Gullen accompanied Empress Laseen and the Imperial Army to Li Heng to face the Talian League. Her actions during the first part of the Battle of the Plains were largely kept in check by the League's High Mage Bala Jesselt. Neither wanted to start a contest of magic that would have slain the leadership of either side.

Once the League was defeated and the Empire's attention was turned to the Crimson Guard, Havva worked behind the scenes in magical disguise, protecting the Empress from rogue elements of the Claw reporting to Mallick Rel. She was killed by Clawmaster Possum, who was fooled by her illusion and mistook her for Coil, one of Mallick's agents.
