Ganap was a member of the Khundryl Burned Tears, functioning as a Tear Runner--who were the scouts and messengers of the Khundryl. Barely out of her teens, she was quick-witted and she possessed extremely acute vision. She had a raptor-like glitter to her dark eyes. Lightly armed, she carried a bow and arrows and at least one knife. Ganap was fond of Rustleaf, usually having a wad of it tucked into one of her cheeks, accounting, perhaps, for her being a woman of few words.

Needing two 'expendable', but still very capable bodyguards for a peace parley with the Bolkando, Warleader Gall chose Ganap and her fellow Tear Runner, Yelk, to accompany him. Gall made sure that Ganap and Yelk knew exactly what they should do if the Bolkando decided to betray the parley truce and attack instead. Gall was very pleased with the contingency plans of the two Tear Runners.
When the three Khundryl were approaching the site of the parley, Gall asked Ganap what she could make out about the still distant pennons and standards flying over the gathered Bolkando forces. Her reply, after adjusting the mass of Rustleaf in her mouth and expectorating a stream of brown liquid, was given in her usual terse manner, and indicated that reigning royalty was present.[1]
