Feather Witch was one of Mayen's handmaids, born into slavery in the Hiroth village. She possessed the ability to cast the Tiles, the Letherii analogue to reading the Deck of Dragons. She was secretly loved by Udinaas, but did not reciprocate his feelings. She was described as having yellow hair and a small, child-like body.

In The Bonehunters

Feather Witch was on a Tiste Edur ship sent to Seven Cities by Emperor Rhulad with orders that "his soldiers inflict atrocities upon all strangers they encounter".[1] Rhulad had issued an open invitation for any warrior to meet him in personal combat, a challenge which Karsa Orlong accepted without hesitation.[2] He and Samar Dev met Feather Witch during the voyage to Lether.[3]

She was attacked by the Errant and forcibly removed his eye. Nearly dead, she swallowed his eye, binding him to her, and making her the Errant's new High Priestess. During the Bonehunter's invasion she was drowned in the rising floodwater in her temple under the city by the Errant.

In Dust of Dreams

Feather Witch's spirit briefly returned under the name Breath. She was part of a group of Letherii exiles who wandered in the Wastelands and stumbled upon Kalse Rooted, a seemingly abandoned K'Chain Che'Malle nest. She was accompanied by Taxilian, Sheb, Asane, Last, Nappet and Rautos Havanar.

Breath was revealed to be Feather Witch, when Taralack Veed explained that they were a part of Icarium.[4]

Breath helped Icarium in the final battle with the K'Chain Nah'ruk, giving him the eye of the Errant with which to make a finnest that constantly repaired Icarium's sky keep during the battle, as an Azath grew from it.
