Blind Gallan concludes this portion of his story by defining the three forces of existence: matter, energy, and potential. Potential is the realm in which all living things act and enact change on existence. In that struggle there is success and there is failure. Fisher kel Tath is shocked by the events Gallan has just related, but the blind poet says it must have been clear that love was at the heart of this tale. For what comes next, they must steady themselves. It is another kind of glory. The secret of sorcery is potential, and as the tale moves on to the dawn of magic's burgeoning, it is time to see what is done with it.
