Ebbin finds the Mask of the Tyrant by Shadaan
Ebbin was a scholar and a charter member of the Philosophical Society of Darujhistan.

Following the subtlest of arcane hints and annotated asides in obscure sources,[1] Ebbin began investigating a series of wells in the Dwelling Plain south of Darujhistan for archeological artefacts. He hired Scorch and Leff as guards and two Gadrobi youths as assistants to aid in his project.[2] His work was funded by Humble Measure.[3]
Whilst exploring one such well Ebbin discovered the remnants of a vault that he believed might have contained proof of the Darujhistan Imperial Age. Humble Measure provided him with funding, labourers, draught animals, cartage, and armed guards at the discovery.[4] These armed guards all perished at the hand of a cloaked and masked figure present in the vault.[5] Ebbin became the unwilling slave and mouthpiece of the cloaked figure who was in fact the reincarnation of a Darujhistan Tyrant of old.
Ebbin was released from his thralldom upon the death of the Tyrant. Rallick Nom took the scholar to the Finnest House where he would spend the rest of his days with Raest. The latter was not amused when Ebbin recognized him as a former Tyrant and expressed his urge to question the Jaghut about his past.[6]
